Minutes for the RSB-NC Board Meeting September 14, 2024
Attendance: Robert, Viorica, Kelly, Annie (on Zoom), Allen, Suzanne (guest), Buddy (guest). Whitney (absent).
Opening verse
Approve Minutes of August 24 meeting. Viorica moves to approve minutes, Approved unanimously.
Treasurer’s report: First Class room rental for next year.
- Payment to EWS will need to be by donation, since EWS must pay taxes on their rental income. I suggest we continue to pay the same annual amount as a donation to EWS — $400. Discussion? Allen questions whether we should monetize the relationship between the branch and the school.
- Motion: Kelly moves that we make a free-will donation. Board agrees unanimously.
Upcoming community events
- (Annie) Michaelmas celebration on Sunday, September 29, is being planned by Joanna Carey, Ben Bingham, and others. Are there any details about time, location? Can the Branch help with publicity or any other aspect?
- Sunday 29th at 3? at Eve’s Home. Possible reading of Parsifal. Other offerings are welcome. To Do: Allen will create a poster.
- The Bingham’s are also hosting an event on Saturday the 28th.
- Possible All Soul’s Celebration on November 2?
- Planned conference for Friday evening and Saturday, November 15-16, with James Dyson, Jonah Evans (Christian Community Lenker), Christina Beck, and others.
- Planners include Ben Bingham, Christina Beck, and Buddy Smiley.
- We have agreed to sponsor this event: Ben and Jenny are the main planners, Robert will set up a registration form using the Branch’s PayPal account.
- Suggested contribution is $65 for Friday evening and Saturday, allowing for a sliding scale donation.
- Since this event leads into the CC events on Sunday, which will have many people attending from out of town, there will probably be a larger than usual attendance at this conference. Buddy will assist people attending the weekend with getting accommodations. Ben and Jenny will arrange for the meal on Saturday.

Other business
- Discuss the possibility of accepting and managing Judy Frey’s and our branch’s anthroposophical library.
- DONE Kelly will put a note on the listserv requesting space in someone’s home.
Report on the status of Branch activities:
- Study groups. Threshold Group, others? Claire Jerram from the CC may be starting a study group. Thursday morning 9:30/10 Friends Meeting Place on Alexander Ave. Durham.
- EWS 40th year Anniversary this year
- Other Waldorf initiatives.
- Christian Community.
Set date for next Board meeting: Saturday, October 19, 2-4 PM at the Mays home.
