Treasurer’s report (Robert)
- We received the $250 grant from ASA. I paid honoraria to Christina and Melody for the Michaelmas Festival.
- DONE: Robert completed the photo montage and writeup on the Branch website and send it to ASA. Link here.
- We have received over $7,700 toward the Youth and Multigenerational Gatherings from ticket sales, fundraising gathering, donations, and the grant from the LA Branch. These funds are now ready for reimbursement for the expenses. Net income looks like about $2,500 to $3,000.
- The understanding was that any funds left over would be held by the Branch in a special fund for future Youth activities. I will set that up after all expenses have been reimbursed. Question as to use of some of these funds for general Branch work as well. Annie and Allen are the liaisons to the Youth group or maybe one could join our Board. Elena is working with Michael, Liam, and Pia.
- TODO: Robert to notify Youth Group.
Community events
Michaelmas celebration, September 27
Comments and discussion. Report was sent to ASA and is posted on our website.
- TODO: Robert send it to the RSB-NC list.
Youth Gathering October 26-30, Multigenerational Gathering October 30-31 with James Dyson
- Comments and discussion. About 20 youth (mostly from the area), camping in the church; they worked on amphitheater — completed a lot, church is happy with result. The youth are meeting weekly, looking for connections to the community. There was a great eurythmy exercise with the large lemniscate.
- Multigeneration: conversation: Anthroposophical medicine, future of (Waldorf) education, community life in the Triangle area. Looked at meeting each others’ needs and sharing their gifts of the different groups. Need for meeting space. Work toward coming together in a common space. Immediately can focus on activities — reconvene at Christmas Play December 19.
- One possibility to involve everyone: form a Festivals Committee for the whole community, like Elena’s proposal.
- A continuing Michaelmas Healing Encounters Festival every year, around the end of September.
- James Dyson said the Union Grove Methodist church is a great space to be in — for a longer, maybe 5-day-long gathering or conference.
Idea from Elena Karoulina regarding a Christmas Festival around the Shepherds’ Play, December 19
Outer Christmas: Friday: The play will be on December 19th 4:30 PM (put on by the Christian Community, in the UGMC church chapel. Elena joined our meeting to discuss. To bring everyone, all generations, together. (In the UGMC church chapel).
Some ideas: 3-4 families together, Christmas carols, tree decorations, Christmas cards. Christmas walk for children outside, offer them a small gift; a community spiral? A meal: not major
Inner Christmas: Saturday 9 AM – noon: eurythmy, sharing with each other, art (Martha).
Planning for the Holy Nights
Possibly including the follow up evening for the Steiner verse (See the Sun at the Midnight Hour) celebration.
- TODO: Robert to arrange with Christina and Claire.
- TODO: ?? announce invitation to hold Holy Night gatherings; coordinate with Claire.
