Opening verse
Approve minutes of November 20, 2021 meeting: Viorica moves to approve. Robert seconds. Approved unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report (Robert):
- Reviewed 2021 Income and Expense Report and the 12/31/21 Financial Position Statement. We had $1,537 of dues and donations income and $141 of interest. The Event income was $795; total Event expenses plus First Class and other meetings was $1,950. General operating expenses were $1,169 for insurance, PO Box. office supplies, Heart Fund disbursement, etc. There were $600 in costs to move the RSB-NC website to a new server.
- In general, our membership and general donations income of $1,400 per year covers the usual expenses of First Class rental, liability insurance, website costs and First Class rentals, plus holding one or two Branch meetings and financing two events per year. This past year we have had several unusual expenses — extra room rental expense and extra website costs
- To Do (Kathleen): Advertise why we need to raise dues and why people should join the branch. Discussion of why we need a board at all. Board holds the vision, organizes events and distributes money. Board manages funds to keep out non-profit status and manage accounts. Board carries liability insurance for events and maintains a PO Box.
- Done (Robert): Robert changed PO Box contact email to Robert from Kelly C. Set up deductions from the debit card to pay for it.
- Done: Kelly and Robert will check for better CD/Money Market rates for our savings account. We decided to keep the Self Help bank savings where it is for now since rates will increase soon.
- Website Report (Robert): The RSB-NC website is doing well, bugs have been worked out. Hacking has been fixed.
Festivals and Events (Kathleen):
- Review of Advent and Holy Nights: Joanna held Advent Sundays at her home. Attendance was small in comparison to previous years due to the pandemic. The Holy Nights were not taken up as a community this year, but there were online offerings. Any thoughts on Easter?
Request for funds (Kathleen):
- Request for Scholarship Funding from Joanna Carey for attendance at the AHA conference in Kimberton, PA in July of this year.
- Our policy for granting funds is that the member who receives them must share with the community the things she has learned at the conference or training. A paper must be submitted stating in writing what the recipient plans to use the funds for and how it will benefit the community like giving an informal talk or writing an article.
- To Do (Kathleen): Send Joanna the scholarship paperwork. Approval of funds based on receipt of paperwork.
- Ben Bingham – request for First Class venue- we can’t pay for a venue for the class. Class will raise its own funds or will meet for free in Judy’s house.
- Friends of Christina Beck suggest help from Heart Fund:
Done: Robert sent funds from the Heart Fund to Christina’s GoFundMe fund.
Events in 2022:
- Branch Meeting — originally scheduled for January 22 had to be postponed, to be rescheduled in May. We need to reserve either the Eurythmy Room or the 8th Grade Classroom for it. Viorica confirmed the Eurythmy room is available. Jenny Bingham will talk for one hour. 1 hour discussion.
- Annual General Meeting: Set date and venue; Any suggestions for candidates for the Board?
To Do: Kathleen will confirm dates of AGM and Branch meetings via email. Kathleen will also call Barbara to finalize everything with the Mystery Drama workshop.
- Mystery Drama Workshop with Barbara Renold: 4/1-4/2 – Barbara has purchased her airline tickets and insurance in case she needs to cancel because of another COVID surge.
Done: Viorica will check if the Eurythmy Room can be used without cost since it is Christina’s classroom.
Discussion: Dues – Currently the amount we charge is unsustainable even in these COVID times. Shall we raise them, or are there other suggestions? No formal motion was passed.
Question: What has become of our lectern? Do we wish to move it to store it elsewhere? It’s still at Emerson Waldorf School, not being used.
Done: Viorica will put a label on the lectern at EWS with our name on it.
