Discussion about possible new Board members.
Festivals and Events:
- Review of Advent- Attendance ranged from 7 to 16 with the first and third Sunday’s having the highest attendance and the last, which was Christmas Eve having the lowest, as was expected. The first two Sundays were held at the Eurythmy Room and the main focus was on the Eurythmy of the Foundation Stone Meditation which Christina Beck presented. The last two Sundays were held at the Mays’s home and there were readings relating to Advent and to the Christmas Foundation Meeting.
- Review of the Holy Nights- The first Holy Night coincided with the last of the Advent Sundays (December 24) Due to its being a family holiday. Only 7 attended. December 27-30 Christina Beck gave Eurythmy classes on the Foundation Stone Meditation. About 10 people attended. The following days were then scheduled for Holy Night events: December 31 at Diana Haynes’s home where there was a Biography workshop; Jan.1 at Leni Covington’s where Kathleen spoke about the Christmas Foundation meeting and the events of the Tea on Jan. 1 1924 when Steiner was poisoned; On Jan. 2 at Judy Granberry’s where a discussion of “The Three Calls” was had especially focusing on the question – did the Christmas Conference fail, what is the implication, where do we go from here?” On Jan. 4 Martha had Christmas Caroling at her home and on January 6 Eve Olive hosted a reading of a Christmas story.
- Upcoming Branch Meeting– The Binghams will present on their trip to the Christmas Conference in Dornach at a Branch meeting. Originally scheduled for Jan. 20, Jenny asked if we could postpone it due to conflicts in their schedule, so it will now be on February 3 from 2-4 pm.
- The board will provide an honorarium to the Binghams.
- To Do: Robert will have checks ready for Binghams on 2/3/24
Discussion:
- Lynn Jericho’s proposal – “After the gathering with James Dyson, I began to wonder if the members and friends would want to participate in an ongoing workshop on Awakening to Reverence. James made it clear that we need more active engagement with intimate and deep social relationships within anthroposophical communities. We must come to know each other as individuals and not just as fellow students of Steiner. I have been working with this deed of reverence for years and have really found ways to make it happen with my role as consultant to the Atlanta Waldorf School. I would imagine a six-session commitment…either bi-weekly or monthly. 2.5 hours in the afternoon. The suggested fee would be $20 per person per session. $120 for the program but it would be Pay What You Can. If the branch wants to pay my fee it would be $1200 for the program. I would be producing workbooks for each session.
“Otherwise, I can do a three-part program on The Bethany Experience and Why Christ needed his relationships with Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. This is my latest research and my Gathering of Selves group has found it very meaningful. It also could lead into the Reverence work.”
-
- Discussion and decision: Kathleen moved that Lynn Jericho give a sample presentation at the next Branch meeting and we will pay her the usual $60.00 stipend for an hour demonstration/introductory talk. Approved unanimously.
- To Do: Kathleen to ask Lynn about giving the suggested sample presentation.
- Discuss: Upcoming AGM: March 23 2-5 pm at the Mayses. Elections, Letter of invitation, asking for new members, reports of Branch initiatives
Reports from initiatives and daughter movements in the area:
- EWS – Lots of visitors and new students.
- Biodynamics – Leni Covington hosted the New Year’s Eve Three Kings Prep Stir.
- Christian Community: New Lenker Jonah Evans will visit the last weekend this month. He will meet with all members to discuss the future of the affiliate here in NC.
Kelly proposed that we have a community calendar on our website, Kathleen seconds, unanimously approved.
- TO DO: Robert will set up a Community Calendar on the website.
Next Board Meeting: Saturday, February 17, 2-4 PM at the Mays home.
