Minutes for the RSB-NC Board Meeting August 24, 2024
Attendance: Kelly, Allen, Viorica, Robert, Annie (on Zoom). Whitney was absent.
Opening verse
Approve Minutes of June 23 meeting. Approved.
Treasurer’s report: New Branch members, First Class room rental for next year.
Review of Branch Sponsored Event: St. John’s Tide
- How many attended? 30-50.
- Comments and suggestions to improve our future Branch events: great food, music and bonfire. Kudos to Ben and Jenny especially. Excellent connections for young people, young families.
Division of Branch work: We need to discuss how to divide up the work of the Board. We need to have Board members handle tasks like:
- Bookkeeping, financial handle tasks reports (Robert)
- Board meeting minutes (Kelly)
- Festival planning (Annie, Buddy, Joanna)
- Liaison with other groups (EWS-Viorica, TCC-Robert, study groups-Allen, etc.)
- New members (welcoming, assist joining the Listserv, pointing out our various activities-Kelly)
- Homeschool parents/groups (Annie)
Opportunities for the future: collaborations and future activities
- How can we support and assist TCC and the new resident priests?
- How can we bring together the TCC, EWS, and Branch communities?
MOTION: that we offer to sponsor the conference on November 15 evening – November 16, provided we can agree on the budget, venue, and other details. Passed unanimously.
Discuss future plans for the Branch:
- Ben’s proposal for a Conference with James Dyson.
- Support for TCC inauguration plans with Jonah Evans’ visit.
- Future festivals – Michaelmas, All Souls’ Day.
TO DO: Annie will report on Michaelmas plans.
- Artistic events to sponsor.
- Encourage study groups to start again, in collaboration with the new priests, teachers at EWS, etc.
Report on the status of Branch activities:
- Study groups. Threshold Group is starting up on Saturdays.
- EWS. Enrollment is now 301 students.
- Other Waldorf initiatives. Sun Start School will go to Grade 3, with about 30 students.
- Christian Community.
- Biodynamics group.
- Other initiatives
Set date for next Board meeting: Saturday, September 14, 2-4 PM at the Mays home.
